Giving Back: Why We've Joined Pledge 1%

At nichecology, we believe that good business is grounded in integrity, kindness, and community. That’s why we’re proud to announce that we’ve officially joined Pledge 1% - a global movement inspiring companies to give back to the communities and causes that matter most. By signing up, we’re committing to give at least 1% of our time and at least 1% of our profits every year to support people, wildlife, and the places they call home.

What does that mean in practice?

🌱 1% of our time will go towards volunteering our ecological expertise - whether that’s giving free advice to grassroots conservation groups, mentoring early-career ecologists, delivering STEM activities to schools, colleges or universities or contributing to nature-based community projects.

💚 1% of our profits will be donated to organisations that align with our values and our mission: helping nature find its place.

We’ve always believed that small actions, done consistently and with care, can add up to big change. Joining Pledge 1% gives us a simple, accountable way to formalise something that’s already part of our culture - giving back wherever we can. And let’s be honest - there’s never a bad time to do good.

A little look back

Last year, we were proud to support the Woodland Trust with a donation of over 1% to help protect and expand native woodlands across the UK. It’s causes like this - rooted in real, lasting ecological benefit - that inspire us to keep finding ways to contribute.

Why now?

The challenges facing the natural world are urgent, and we know we can’t fix them alone. By weaving generosity and service into the fabric of how we do business, we can play our part in a much bigger picture - one where ecology supports communities, landscapes, and future generations too. We’re a small company with a big heart, and this pledge reflects that.

What’s next?
